Good writing is one that gives you pause, and have you connect to other parts of your life and this definitely fits the bill!

I think deep listening is one of the most complex skills to develop. We are so normalized and incentized to jump into conversations, to contribute, to come up with ideas, quick quips, connecting the dots for survival, relevance, advancement that this feels like quite the forgotteen art. To build on what you said about being "curious instead of certain", it requires at least for me a fair bit of emotional, intellectual security and more importantly, faith that stuff will emerge....

Faith links directly to the curious over certainty that you are talking about and it's hard especially in a world where we are driven to reduce uncertainty in our everyday lives...

It’s funny because I often feel the urge to make statements but when I just shut up and reflect back what I heard instead of adding my own Very Smart Thoughts, people engage much more and have a better impression (I say this because usually people will explicitly call out that the conversation was meaningful to them or that they think I am smart). It helps me relax into it. I resonate with what you said about faith. It is a sort of surrender! And you participating my weird little workplace empathy circles way back when helped me understand all of this by the way! So thank you

It is coming full circle for me, too. Thank you for starting empathy circles and writing all about it, etc! I am starting to get a hang of deep listening and it's paying dividends in my personal and professional lives :)
